Okay, so we
are driving from home to the littoral parts of the island and hopefully it's going
to be another gorgeous day out there, with the sun beaming with full
exuberance. I just plan one post to be a road journey where I'm going to write
about a trip, God bless it turns out great. So we are headed to the northern
coast and from the beginning of Grand Bay we are welcomed by a huge field of
burnt down sugarcane. And there's Super U right in front pulsating with life
for an early Friday morning! And just when I was planning to get hungry -
McDonald and the fast food is closed! Yes the parking's filled for a bright
morning where one expects everyone to be working in office cubicles! So off we
go, our first stop- to the optician to fetch my brother's new specs and to find
something to gulp down!
So, it's
mostly tourists mainly of Chinese origin roaming about but what is striking me
best is the difference between the night life of this area and its day life. I
mean right now, you can see cleaners and their buckets of water and mops.
What's
amazing though I'd to see this very elegant morning yet so rustic and islander.
Blues, yellows and greens. Just the
perfect theme for this very beachy morning.
We just
found food. And kill me, stab me in the heart. I wish my school canteen was so
filled with an ounce of delicious goodies. Aaarrhh.. Mouthwatering is not the
word when you just woke up at the sight of this. So lunch and breakfast were
gulped down right there! I love this corner the most in the ground level, not
only because of the food but also because of the normally calm but fast-paced
life. And the books section. Kill me again!
And then I got into this dark and lovely coloured Lucky
Strike World with my Mom- and I was pretty amazed by the buzz inside although
it was only 10 30. The lounge was already filled with a long table already
occupied by a group of youngsters chilling out It’s not normally the kind of
atmosphere that I would normally champion or easily sway to the rhythm of- but
with my mom and my grandma, there we go!
On coming out of this cavern- There are
tonnes of kids walking everywhere, obviously making the most of their holidays.
But woah, was I amazed by their vivacity and excitement to get in those play
rooms and games. A bunch of them had wheels and wheels of those tickets needed
to start off those joysticks! And my, I felt myself going back to those days where
I used to ride on Donald Duck's back. What took me off guard was this game
called bulldozer where instead of teddy bears, iPods, mp3 players were
displayed to be played for! My, my! And they say standard of living is low?!
Back to the
car, I'm left feeling sleepy after that elaborate meal. We are driving towards
Mon Choisy. There we go with the art galleries, fresh air, and whiff of the
salty sea. And sunshine. Loads of sun days. The restaurants, the shopping
kiosks and the banyan trees!
And ouuff.
The sea. It's here. It's just here. To be honest, I really don't know what I
had do if this pearly surface never existed. I feel blessed to be living only
10 minutes away from this paradise!
This Post- is mainly for my Mom, who just thought that US
viewers should perhaps be introduced to some typical Mauritian views and
lifestyles.
On that note- thank you for reading this. God Bless. One
Love, xoxo!
